four months

yesterday, tucker and i went on a playdate at a bounce place with our preschool department at church while adde played at uncle zack and aunt hollie's house. we spent the afternoon in ada for sweet adde's 4 month check-up. dr. o was so impressed with how big she has gotten as well as her red hair. she was happy the entire appointment, smiling and talking to dr. o, until it came time for the shots! :( needless to say, mommy and tuck got to stop at a peach stand for some peach ice cream on the way home as a reward for surviving the appointment.

at 4 months, adde...

-weighs 13 lbs. 10 oz. she's in the 66th percentile in weight and the 50th in height.
-has found her feet. she grabs them many times a day.
-is grasping toys. while playing on her playmat, she pulls on the toys above.
-started eating cereal. she's still a little unsure about it, so hopefully she'll catch on soon so we can move to veggies.
-is drinking 5 oz. of breastmilk every 2-2 1/2 hours.
-wakes at 3 every morning for a snack before drifting back to sleep.
-adores her big brother!
-took her first vacation to Great Wolf Lodge in Texas with nan and pa and all of the fam.
-takes 3-4 naps a day. her morning nap is her only long nap though.
-squeals...it's so sweet to watch her squeal and grin at us when we acknowledge her!

fourth

i loved watching my kids' faces as they admired the fireworks.

to celebrate the fourth, we went to a parade on saturday morning in edmond. both kids had a big time.

we wrapped up the weekend with a cookout at our house with lots of pops and smoke balls.

cute tuck saying:
matt was telling tuck that we celebrate because we got independence from the britts. so tuck now says we got independence from the "bit$!"!

t-ball

we recently signed tuck up to play t-ball on his cousin sam's team. made the little guy's day, week, and summer! we signed him up the day before his first game, so we had little time to gather up the baseball necessities. the night before the game, we went and bought cleats, pants, socks, and batting gloves (because they are totally necessary in t-ball).

the day of his first game, tuck was so excited. I somehow managed to get a decent nap out of him, and off we went. he had a ton of fans come watch: nan and pa, all his aunts and uncles, gran and papa d, and some of matt's friends from work. he did such a good job. he "smashed" the ball before running to the honking base. i loved watching him play as he grinned from ear to ear. now he wakes up every morning asking if he has a "basaball" game today.

basketball shorts

all the boy will wear is "baketball shorts". he wears them from the time his feet hit the floor until we send him off to bed.

friday, hollie and i took the kids garage saling (bad idea). i let tuck take a dollar to find something special with. most kids would choose a toy, but tuck chose a pair of red nike mesh shorts.

i love my little sports fanatic!

3 months

this past week, adde turned 3 months. we were in ada on that day to pick brother up from his vacation at nan and pa's house. we came home to spend a few days vegging out as we all passed around some sick germs.

at 3 months, adde...

-loves her hands. we took her last monday for her 3 month pictures, and it was nearly impossible to get her to keep her hands out of her mouth.
-coos and smiles any time she is acknowledged. she is really turning into a happy baby.
-rolls over. she has rolled over for me and nan and pa several times, but has yet to show off her new skill to her daddy. i think he thinks we're lying!
-still loves bathtime.
-has the sweetest chubby thighs, wrists, and tummy. baby girl loves to eat!
-eats 4 3/4 oz. of breast milk every 2 1/2 hours.
-is getting lots of straight, fluffy redish hair. her gigi is so excited!
-loves to kick. she has started pestering brother a bit with those busy little feet!

oh, sweet adde girl, we love you so much!

life lately

a day trip to the zoo.
lunch with daddy.
lots of playtime in the yard.
tucker saying his night-night prayers.
kissing on adde's chubby cheeks.
watching adde almost roll over. she can't figure out how to get over that arm.
sweet adde sleeping on her side.
early morning feedings. only once a night though!
a visit to the children's museum.
swimming at nan and pa's house where mr. t was so brave going down the slide.
watching tucker sing Jesus loves me to his baby sister.
cuddling with my sweet babies.
playing lots of living room baseball, basketball, and soccer.
feeding adde 4 1/2 oz every 2 1/2 hours.
watching and cherishing every moment with my babies.

2 months

today adde is 2 months old. time has gone by so fast, but at the same time it seems like she's been with us forever. we've had some recent colic issues with our sweet girl, but switching bottles has done the trick.

at 2 months adde...

-just started wearing size one diapers. she is still wearing mostly newborn clothes, but is slowly fitting into some of her 0-3 month clothes.
-got her shots this past thursday at her 2 month check-up. she was not a fan!
-weighs 8 lbs. 15 oz. and takes 4 ounces of breast milk every two hours.
-has slept through the night a few times, but still only gets up once most nights.
-has the most precious smile that she showed us on may 8th and has started cooing at us as well.
-loves watching her brother and the mobile on her swing.

we love you sweet addeline!

indeed blessed

i am indeed blessed. life is a whirlwind right now and it's hard to find time to document it all, but i don't want to forget a moment.

our past two weeks:
-on friday, april 30th, matt and i took tuck to a thunder playoff game while adde stayed with aunt wendy. we had a wonderful time with the johnston family enjoying a yummy dinner at coach's, a carriage ride across bricktown, and then a very exciting nba playoff game. tucker grinned from ear to ear the entire time even though we lost by one.
-last tuesday, tucker started swimming lessons. it's a parent and tot class, and since i just had a baby 6 weeks earlier, i declared myself exempt! he is doing great practicing kicking and splashing daddy. he will continue to go every tuesday and thursday for the entire month of may.

-on saturday, i graduated from ecu with my master's degree in reading. it was a special day that we shared with matt's family since my family was all in okc welcoming gage tyler into the world.
-adde is no longer the baby on the fuller side! she may not be the youngest, but she is still the smallest. gage came into the world yesterday afternoon tipping the scales at 11 pounds 1 ounce! holy cow!

today is mother's day. i remember those hard mother's days where we sat in church watching other mothers getting recognized while we wondered when it would be our turn. since then, i have been blessed beyond measure with 2 of the most beautiful, incredible kids. days are hard...babies fuss, toddlers make messes, the house seems out of control, but i love my life and my kids!

tuck and adde, i am so thankful that god chose me to be your mommy! i love you so much!

His Memory

Tucker's ability to remember things continues to amaze me. Friday morning, we were talking about how old he was and I told him twice when his birthday was. I figured it went in one ear and out the other. While driving in the car Friday night, I asked him when his birthday was and he replied "Sober 16th". He amazes me!

From the Mouth of Tucker

Matt has been gone to play softball this evening, so we stayed in out of the wind. The Thunder are playing in the playoffs, and my little sports fanatic has been so excited! He begs to wear his "Funder" shirt everyday. Tonight, I let him stay up a little late to watch the first half of the game with me. He was cracking me up! He would yell "Go Funder!" and "Go KD!" everytime a Thunder player would touch the ball. He also decided that the Thunder's coach looks like Dave from the Chipmunks. It amazes me how he knows what's going on. I guess it's from all of the basketball games we drug him to in the past to watch our youth play.

1 month old

Our sweet Addeline is one month old today! Where has time gone? We celebrated by meeting daddy for lunch at Chipolte before heading to see Gigi and Gramps.

At one month, Adde is:
-drinking 3 ounces of breastmilk every 2 hours. She is growing like a little weed! She is still long, but is finally starting to fit into some of her newborn clothing.
-sleeping great! She usually only wakes once during the night (usually around 4 am) to eat. Getting her back to sleep is a bit tricky.
-She loves watching her big brother play. It's amazing how she'll move her head to watch his every move.
-She loves bathtime! She lays back and relaxes and doesn't cry until we get her out of her tub.

-Adde loves one of her brother's old blue pacifiers. I bought some similar but she wanted nothing to do with them. I finally found another package of them at Target, so now we have 3 of her favorite kind. Her brother is constantly cramming them in her mouth or giving them to his stuff animals.

-We are slowing getting into a routine. She loves sleeping in until around 9:30, but then she stays awake the rest of the morning. She has started taking her afternoon nap in her room for about 4 hours each afternoon.

Laundry

I sat a few minutes ago with the TV and lights off, rocking my daughter with a huge pile of laundry on the couch. My daughter is already almost a month old. HOLY COW! That laundry will be there tomorrow. I pray that I learn to savor every moment with my kiddos. They grow up so quickly!

Week in Review and Tucker's Happenings

I don't know how people with more than one kid have time to blog. We've only been home for a week and I feel like my head has been spinning the whole time.

Friday, Nan drove us to Ada for a check-up for Miss Adde. She was having lots of issues spitting up in the hospital, so it was a follow-up to check on that. She weighed 5 lbs. 9 oz. at her appointment. It ended up being quite the doctor's visit though. The dr. was a little concerned after she spit up yellow film 3 times in the few minutes we were in his office, so he ordered an ultrasound to be done that day. Adde was also on medicine for reflux as well as had blood drawn to check for Jaundice. We were told to start adding a bit of rice cereal to her bottles to see if that would help.

On Saturday, we ventured to Edmond for birthday party madness. We celebrated Jack's 1st birthday that morning with Stephen and Sam's party that afternoon. Tuck had a blast and Adde slept through most of the parties. Adde decided that night that sleep wasn't fun, so we were up with her most of the night.

Sunday, Nan and Pa took Tucker to church in Edmond for Jack's baby dedication while Matt, Adde, and I got some much needed rest.

On Monday, Matt took us back to Ada for another check-up where we found that Miss Adde had gained a little over an ounce and grew .4 of an inch. The doctor was so pleased with her growth!

Tuesday morning, Adde and I took Tucker back to school. He was so excited to see his friends again and had a blast while Adde and I came home to clean house. We then went on our first girl's shopping trip to Target before picking up big brother.

Today, Adde had her newborn pics taken with a few with Tuck. She slept like a champ through them. I can't wait to see how they turned out!

Now onto Tucker:
-4: Tuck puts everything in intervals of 4...I'll take a bath in 4 days, I'll be back in 4 minutes, etc. Cracks me up!
-Sand Table...Tuck loves his sand table. It was the best $20 I ever spent. He spends countless hours driving his trucks around in the sand while Adde and I rock on the porch.

I Be Back

Tucker left earlier for an evening out with Nan to celebrate Stephen's birthday. Whenever he leaves he always tells us "I be back!" Tonight before leaving, he kissed his baby sister goodbye before telling her "I be back!" Melt my heart! Then Matt and I enjoyed about 20 minutes of awake time with Adde in her room.

Adde is here!

We had been given the date for Adde's induction a couple of weeks ago, and the day has finally came and gone. On Monday, March 1st, I went for my doctor's appointment to find that Adde had turned breach. Our OB wanted to schedule an inversion the very next day in order to turn her before she got any bigger. So Matt took off work and drove down with all of our hospital gear since the chances for having to go in for an emergency c-section were possible.

That Tuesday morning, our OB very painfully and successfully turned Adde heads down. We were told that there was a 5% chance she would turn back breach, so we weren't too concerned. I was sore for a few days, but was pleased that she was going to get to bake inside me for a bit longer.
The next Monday (March 8th) we went back to the doctor to find that she had turned back breach. I laughed so I wouldn't cry and asked what now. Our doctor scheduled Adde to make her big arrival on Monday, March 22nd, either vaginally or by c-section.

So we began to prepare for her big arrival for the next 2 weeks. The weather turned beautiful the week before so we did lots of fun things as a family of 3. Tuck and I went on a date to Sesame Street Live. We went to the Thunder basketball game. We just enjoyed spoiling our little guy before his world would be turned upside down.

On Saturday, March 20th, we began to get a highly overrated winter storm, but we didn't want to risk getting stuck in OKC so we headed to Ada. We spent time with both of our families getting ready for Adde's big arrival.

On Monday morning, Matt and I left for the hospital at 7 am. Our families arrived shortly after we had checked in. Then the doctor came by to see where we were at. I was dilated 1-2 cm and Adde had turned back heads down. Praise the Lord I did not have to go through another inversion or a c-section!

Around 8:30 they started me on Pitocin and I began to feel contractions. The doctor came in around 10 and broke my water and said we'd have a baby by afternoon so I needed to either get my epidural or miss it. Soon after the epidural man (my new best friend) arrived and everything went off without a hitch. They came back around 1 and checked me and I was at a 7 but Adde's heart rate was dropping during contractions, so I began having to be turned from side to side. A bit later I was an 8 then the nurse came in and said my contractions weren't as strong as they would have liked them. So the next two rated around 124-127. That moved me straight to a 10, so they ran to get the doctor and began preparing the room. Mom started texting for Ashley and Wendy to come so they could capture it on camera, and they barely made it in time. I started pushing around 2:15 and at 2:24 Addeline Faith Eidson was born!

She is a tiny thing with very long fingers and very long toes! She weighed 5 lbs. 14 oz. and was 18.3 inches long.

I'll post more later about Tuck's reaction as well as our hospital stay and life at home with 2 kiddos.

Valentine's Day

We are finally getting settled into our new routine in Oklahoma City. Tuck goes to a new school on Tuesdays now. He loves it! Wednesdays are now our storytime days.

We began last week in Ada for my check-up. We are 34 weeks today which seems crazy today. It seems just like yesterday that I took the pregnancy test and scared the snot out of Tucker with my screaming! I'm big and uncomfortable, but other than that I'm doing much better. This pregnancy has been completely different. I'm carrying her really low which has been very different from Tuck.

We came home Monday night in the snow so that Tuck could go to school Tuesday morning for his class pictures. He informed us that night that he smiled with one eye open! He's such a ham!

We went to storytime on Wednesday and Tuck got to go back to school on Thursday for his class Valentine's party. He came home all hopped up on sugar but also pretty sleepy. Then on Friday we spent the day at Affair of the Heart with Joni and Lane. Tuck loved hanging out and giving "nucks" to Lane.

Saturday, we went back to Affair of the Heart with Nan and Aunt Ash before coming home and relaxing for the evening. We continued our church hunt Sunday. We liked the church but were a little bothered by a couple of things. They have a wonderful children's program, so we'll go back another week to try it again. That afternoon, I snuck away to get my hair cut before picking up the guys for a Valentine's Day treat for Tucker...a trip to Build-a-Bear. He is obsessed with his "Bobbys" these days, so we had to add to the collection. He made a dog that he creatively named "Dog, Dog" that is dressed in a hooded shirt complete with a guitar. We finished off the evening with a dinner out as a family. It was such a fun, busy week with my little family!

The things he says...

We have found a church that we are very interested in and Tucker loves it. We were a little worried that the church search was going to continue though this morning when we picked up Tucker from his class.

We asked him if he had fun and he said yes. We then asked him what they learned about and he said they played with tits and it was so much fun!

Um...

I then looked over his papers to find out they learned about Moses building a tent church so they built a tent in his class.

I guess we don't have to find a new church after all!

What I Love About You

What I love about TuckMan:

  • Slobbery kisses followed by "Uv You, Mama!"
  • The way he politely answers "No, Tank You!" when asked if he needs to potty or wants to go to bed.
  • The way he wants me to sit in the rocking chair so I can throw the football to him.
  • His singing while strumming on his guitar (and sometimes while he pounds on his drums).
  • His prayers. Today we went to McDonald's and this was his prayer: "Dear Jesus, Tank you for my cheeseburber, juice-some-more, and my french fries. They're hot! Amen."
  • The way a kiss and telling him "all better" can heal many hurts. He even paused to kiss my tummy yesterday when I told him I was feeling well.
  • The bottomless pit that he is! That kid can consume some major food!
  • His happiness! There are very few instances throughout the day where Tucker is not grinning ear to ear!

I love that kid!

Will be around more

Yesterday, Miss Addeline gave us a little scare. I woke up with a lot of pressure and began to have contractions later in the morning, so off to the hospital we went. Praise God she is still inside baking. It turns out I'm carrying her really low putting lots of pressure on my lower muscles. I also got a lecture from the doctor that I was doint too much. So now I have to wear a stomach belt for support and stay off my feet as much as possible for the next 10 weeks. So I will be blogging a lot more!

Here is a rundown of our latest activities:

  • Tucker started his new school yesterday and loved it. He kept telling his teacher throughout the day that he was going to tell his mama that he had fun. Sometimes I wish he'd shed a tear when I leave him!
  • Monday we went to watch Uncle Zack coach his basketball team with Gigi, Gramps, and Pa. Tuck had a blast being spoiled by all!
  • Last Thursday, we met Hudson and his parents for a playdate at an indoor playplace called The PlayZone. It was so neat, and it really wore the little guys out.

We are pottytraining and it's going pretty well. Tucker still wears a diaper when we leave the house, but he does really well while we're home. I guess we'll master it while we're spending all this time at home!
