Thursday

On Thursday morning, we traveled with a group from church to the children's museum. I was the only one on the church's insurance, so I got to drive the church van. Tucker got to sit in the third row with a friend. He looked so big back there talking and playing with his friend.

He had a great time at the museum. His favorite exhibits were the bubble area and the airplane. I tried to get him to go in the shadow room, but he screamed about going into a dark room. We are discovering that Tucker is VERY afraid of the dark.

We returned back to the church with an hour to run home and clean up before meeting back at the church to take the youth to the basketball game. Tucker was wiped out and he sat on the van by the loudest kid. He was so tired by the time that we got to the game that we were spared the usual wallering all over us.

Already almost Thursday

Whew! Where has this week gone? We spent Sunday in Ada for a baby shower for Jack. Instead of driving home and then turning around and going back, we stayed the night at Nan and Pa's house.

We hung out in Ada all day Monday. Tucker got a haircut as well as some quality time with his cousins. We then headed home after I got out of class later that evening.

Tuesday was like many others with a trip to story time and then lunch at McDonalds. We ran into several of the other kids from story time, so we stayed for a while and played.

Today's weather was BEAUTIFUL! After picking up Tucker from Mother's Day Out, we went by Sonic for a Sprite Slush. We then headed home for some time playing outside. Tucker has become a huge fan of sidewalk chalk. He scribbled to his little heart's delight as well as ran...yes he has learned to run. After about 45 minutes of playtime, he came and crawled on my lap and told me night, night. So we topped off the afternoon with a short nap before heading to church.

Catching up...

It's been a pretty busy week. Tucker spent most of Monday in Ada, Tuesday running errands, Wednesday at Mother's Day Out, Thursday at some friends while I subbed, and Friday at home. We also complete the week by attending a few basketball games of some of our youth.

Tucker's vocabulary is growing so quickly...maybe a little too quickly. He now tells us "true" when he's finished eating. He's also very good at telling anyone "no, no" followed by a slap. This is a phase that I hope will be short-lived. Matt has also taught Tucker to go and get diapers from his room. He now brings me many diapers even when he's dry, so if you come over and there are clean diapers everywhere...don't think much of it.

We're looking forward to getting to go to church in Ada Sunday. I haven't been in so long, and I miss Trinity a lot. I can't wait to see so many familiar faces.

Busy (but fun) Weekend

We had a great weekend together! We started off Valentine's Day by sharing breakfast together at the donut shop. Tucker kept a donut in each hand and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

After breakfast, we went to Lowe's to pick out the stuff for our bathroom remodel that we're starting next weekend. We then came home to enjoy a Valentine's lunch with our little family. We then spent the afternoon relaxing before leaving Tucker with 2 babysitters (yes, it takes two) so that we could go out for dinner and a movie.

Sunday afternoon we met Nan for a trip to Tulsa to see Playhouse Disney Live! Tucker sat in awe while enjoying snacks and juice. We completed the outing with a Handy Manny hard hat, a pennat, and a snowcone from Nan.

Fun

Today was a fun day despite the cloudy, rainy weather. We started off the day like most Tuesdays by going to lapsit storytime at the public library. Tucker was a little wild throughout the 45 minutes. He insisted on laying on the floor and spinning in circles most of the time, but he enjoyed himself and that's what it's all about. We met daddy at McDonalds afterwards for "A Day of Love" where we enjoyed 59 cent cheeseburgers before heading home for naptime.

This afternoon we had to get out in the rain to run a couple more errands. We went by the cancer center to get daddy's signature where Tucker walked around greeting all the nurses. His favorite has a special stash of toys for Tucker in her desk drawer that he always remembers. We then got to go to the bank. I had a few things to take care of today, so we went inside rather than going through the drive through. Much to my horror, the teller handed Tucker a sucker. The Kate Gosslin in me came out when I noticed Tucker was wearing a fairly new shirt that is primarily white. I pride myself in keeping clothes stain free. We have only had one outfit ruined due to stains in Tucker's entire 16-month life. Rather than unleashing a complete screaming fit, I let him eat the sucker. He kept himself remarkably clean. I could hear him slurping it all the way home and telling me that it was "Mmm, Mmm" from the backseat.
After getting home and following him around with a wet wipe trying to keep his sticky paws off the furniture, I decided that the fun needed to end. He was NOT a happy camper, but got over it once I offered him a "cacker". He's been all hyped up ever since!

Here's some random pictures I finally loaded onto the computer today.

Eating his favorite meal...spaghetti o's with wieners.

Eating queso at Ted's. He loves to dip!

Wearing daddy's jacket.

Honored

Tonight I attended the board meeting for McAlester Schools because the faculty for the school that I taught at last year was being honored for our API scores for last year. We were each recognized in front of the board. I started having flashbacks of my gracefulness in high school when I fell down some stairs at an award assembly. I didn't fall, but I did forget to shake the superintendent's hand. The mayor has declared that next Tuesday is Emerson Elementary Day in McAlester. To top off the evening, we were each given a $2,000 check from the state of Oklahoma. Your tax dollars at work!

I came home and decided to catch up on my blogging when I stumbled across a blog about a 10 month old little girl that died Sunday after being diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks ago. I can not imagine what that family is going through. I couldn't image losing Tucker. Enough for tonight...

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been beautiful this weekend, so we decided to get out of the house some. We spent the day Saturday in Tulsa shopping. We hit lots of Spring sales as well as picked up some new playground equipment for the church's toddler playground.

When we got home, Tucker was full of energy. He and daddy used some of that energy to practice t-ball. (It's never too early I guess). While playing Tucker went from sitting to standing on his own. He usually has to crawl over to something to pull up on, but now he can get up on his own.

Sunday afternoon Tucker was invited to a birthday party. We came home to play outside with daddy afterwards. Tucker rode his 4-wheeler and walked all over our neighbor's yard (he likes her yard better than ours). I love this weather and getting to play outside. Hurry up Spring!

Busy Monday

We had a very busy day in Ada yesterday. We started the day by taking Aunt Wendy and the boys out to lunch to celebrate Wendy's birthday. We had the express lunch at Chili's where Tucker and Sam had a messy time dipping their chips in ranch dressing. Tucker gets his chips dripping wet and then eats off the dry side. It is such a mess!

Tucker had his 15 month checkup yesterday afternoon. The doctor was concerned about the size of his head. He asked if my husband has a large head. Matt does have a large head, so more than likely it's hereditary but we go back in 5 weeks so they can measure it again. We also found out that Tucker is going to have to have a small surgery sometime before his second birthday to correct a problem from when he was an infant. We will find out more when we go back in another 5 weeks, so I'll post more when I know more.

We wrapped up the day with class followed by dinner at Polo's with the family for Wendy's birthday. Whew! It was a tiring day! Enough for now...we have errands and story time to attend today.
